Barclays Bank UK PLC and Kensington Mortgages


You may have heard that Barclays Bank UK PLC (Barclays Bank UK) has recently purchased our company, Kensington Mortgages. This is an exciting development for our business and will enable us to continue to focus on providing innovative mortgage products that meet the diverse needs of our customers.

However, we want to reassure you that although we are now part of the Barclays group of companies, there will be no change to the way we manage and service your mortgage account. We understand that you may have some questions, so to provide the answers, we’ve put together some FAQs below.

Why has Barclays bought Kensington?
The sale reflects Barclays commitment to the UK residential mortgage market. In addition, Kensington’s heritage and expertise in specialist mortgage lending will complement the products Barclays currently offer to their customers.
Will I have to contact Barclays if I have a question relating to my mortgage?
No, Kensington will remain a separate regulated business so you will still be able to contact our UK based team in the same way you do today.
Will my mortgage statement and any other correspondence be sent from Barclays?
No, as a separate regulated business, the Kensington brand will remain so your mortgage statement and any other correspondence that we send to you will still come from Kensington.
Should I contact Barclays if I have a complaint relating to my mortgage?
No, Kensington will remain a separate regulated business so you should still contact our UK based team in the same way you do today.
As an existing customer, will I be able to get a Barclays mortgage from Kensington?
There are currently no plans for us to offer Barclays mortgages to our customers. However, if your broker feels that you may be eligible for a Barclays mortgage, they can apply through the normal Barclays application process.
Will I be offered a Barclays mortgage when my current product expires?
There are currently no plans for us to include Barclays mortgages as part of our Product Switch options. However, if your broker feels that you may be eligible for a Barclays mortgage at the end of your current product, they can apply through the normal Barclays application process.
